My tasks on MOSAiC
Various standard biology tasks, including water sampling, filtration and measurements of microbial biomass, abundance and activity, as well as field work tasks such as drilling of ice cores and deployment of experimental equipment.
I am most excited about
First of all I am excited to be a part of this special Polarstern expedition and to work together with many brilliant scientists from different research fields. I am also already excited to analyze the unique data set coming from this expedition and to cross link it with data coming from other researchers. This enormous data-set collected over an entire year in unexplored parts of the Arctic Ocean will give us new insights and a new resolution of limits and extends of biological activity in both sea ice and the ocean and this is really exciting.
