My tasks on MOSAiC

Some colleagues unfortunately dropped out and thus I stand in as team lead for team OCEAN on leg 3. My two team mates and me will take care of the continuation of all oceanographic measurements set up during the previous legs.

I am most excited about

While I’ve been working already many times on board of Polarstern and other vessels, I am very excited to carry out our measurements this time directly from the Arctic sea ice. Still, most exciting I am about to experience the transition from total darkness to 24-hours light in only a couple of days! Most challenging (but also exciting!) will be to work in temperatures going down to -30°C!
