My biggest challenge
The main challenge is to ensure the functionality of the instruments and high quality measurements. Furthermore, radio frequency interference introduces a challenge for microwave radiometry as it disturbs the target signals from the snow and sea ice.
I am most excited about
Personally and about my own participation time, I am excited about experiencing the transition from polar night to the first sunrise which takes place on Leg 3. However, generally I am most excited about the unique data set of measurements extending a full year and all the light it sheds on so many unknowns about the Arctic sea ice evolution.
