My tasks on MOSAiC
On the cruise, I will contribute to the core sampling programme of team ECO, especially the zooplankton component. This involves sampling zooplankton from different habitats (under ice, deep and shallow water column), preserve whole batches and individual species for subsequent analyses in the home labs and run incubations on-board to measure respiration rates, grazing rates etc.
I am most excited about
If everything goes to plan, we will have a full annual cycle of weekly sampled data that give the unique opportunity to see how trophic relationships are changing throughout the year - from 24h-night to 24h-day and back.
