As the Polarstern heads back home, the sun sinks lower and lower on the horizon. Yesterday was the first time the scientists experienced a sunset, where the sun dipped under the horizon. Due to light refraction, the sky was still very light with opaque blues, yellow, and pinks coloring the sky. Five hours later the sun went above the horizon again.
