Take a look around as you find yourself onboard the research vessel Akademik Fedorov - with a view to Polarstern!
"Anders Torstensson, forskare på Institutionen för ekologi och genetik vid Uppsala universitet, är en av de MOSAiC-forskare som befinner sig på det tyska forskningsfartyget Polarstern som just nu ligger infrusen i ett isflak i Arktis."
“'The first time I saw sea ice, I lost my mind. It was mesmerizing,' said Sean Horvath, a PhD candidate at the University of Colorado Boulder who studies sea ice from afar."
Satellite observation is the only way to effectively monitor the Arctic sea ice on a broad scale. Yet this approach still has its fair share of weaknesses. Unparalleled control measurements gathered during the MOSAiC expedition will now help to overcome them.
"Maria Josefa Verdugo ships into the bitter cold of far-northern waters to measure ice-core properties as part of a year-round climate project."
